Infinite Scroll

2023

I had the opportunity to take on the role of Lead Artist and Concept Designer under Mural Lingo for “Infinite Scroll”, a multi-disciplinary installation showcased as part of Singapore Art Week (SAW2024) and arts@SAFRA at Punggol SAFRA.

Infinite Scroll” is an installation work that addresses society’s increased dependency on digital media and info-communication technology to accomplish daily functions, which borders on over-dependency. The never-ending information pool on the internet and social media platforms has created an infinite scroll for consumers. The widely used platforms are one of the human’s greatest guilty pleasures as it fulfils our basic need of belongingness. There are never enough hours in a day to be fully caught up with the happenings on our feeds and “Infinite Scroll” is based around this modern dilemma.

It is physically manifested through this single pod structure and includes an AR filter and LED lights. Visitors are encouraged to stroll through the pod’s arches to explore the various features of the artwork.

The concept for the AR Filter revolves around the visual motif of floating infinity signs, inspired by the project’s title, “Infinite Scroll”. The signs, rendered in the three main project colours, serve as a symbolic representation of unending content. As they gracefully appear and disappear, ascending in harmony with an upward movement, mimicking the natural direction of scrolling, the filter creates a dynamic and immersive experience, reinforcing the idea of an endless flow of engaging content.
